This is Stile.Foto.Cibo’s 100th post! So before I get too in depth with the actual content, I want to take a moment to say just how much I appreciate you awesome readers. This blog is a little more than 6 months old and it has been such a fun adventure figuring out the world of blogging with you all! Cheers to the next hundred!
Now, onto the good stuff.
So last week was “Chicago Couture Fashion Week.” I’m going to be up front with you and say I was disappointed by what this actually meant. There was supposed to be a show the previous Sunday which was also Mother’s Day. That show got cancelled due to “low census.”
The Grand Finale show took place this past Saturday. The way this was being marketed, it was supposed to be HUGE. Saying tickets were nearly sold out, the event was heavily buyer attended, etc. With a promo for free standing room tickets, I snagged a couple, invited my cousin and a friend down for the evening, and prepared for an awesome night of networking, great fashion, and an all-round good time.
I could not have been more wrong.
When we got there, the place was all but empty. We were actually seated. Because why make people with standing room tickets stand when there are clearly less than 25% of seats filled?
The fashion itself was great, don’t get me wrong. Here’s a few photos of what we saw:
So that was great. But look at that last one. Hello empty seats.
But we made a good time of it anyway. The four of us chatted about the fashion, laughed way too hard at the MC and… unique music choices. And peaced a little early to go grab drinks with some friends instead.
Overall, not a total flop of a night. Got to get extra dolled up, hang out at the Hilton, then share some wine with friends.
Going to take a moment to gush over this kimono, though. I absolutely love it! It’s super silky and comfortable. And it’s the easiest way to jazz up any outfit. I’ve paired it with jeans, a t-shirt, and heels for an easy out-for-drinks look and then with this LBD for a classier look. Easily my new favorite piece this season.
