You know the situation: You’re out on the town. Your makeup looks fly. You feel like you could conquer the world right now. Dinner rolls around, you eat the most delicious pasta you have ever had the pleasure of enjoying, and you pop to the restroom to check that fly makeup.
Disaster. Your lipstick has feathered and faded in the patterns of the pasta you just ate. There’s no fixing this. Your options are either wipe it off and go without lipstick or play the fool, leave what color is left, and walk around like an idiot the rest of the night.
This situation could have been avoided with this tutorial.
- Lip balm
- Your favorite lipstick
- A single square of toilet paper
- Corn starch
- Cotton pad or Q-tip
Step 1: Apply lip balm. This is mostly for the good of your lips. Give them some love all night. For those of you who like lip liner, this is where you would apply that. I personally don’t so I go for balm instead.
Step 2: First coat of Lipstick. You’re a pro at applying lipstick by this point. Do your worst.
Step 3: Blot the Excess. This is there the toiled paper comes in. One sheet is just enough to fold it in half and blot my lips down. Gets the way too much extra off and preps your lips for the next step.
Step 4: Cornstarch. Take a cotton pad or a Q-tip and coat it with cornstarch. Take the powder and pat it all over your lips. You’re gonna get some on the skin around your lips. You’re probably going to get some on your robe, too. It happens. Apply the corn starch and blend it in until you can’t see it anymore. I recommend patting versus any motion that will cause friction to keep the lipstick in place.
Step 5: Repeat steps 2 and 3. Apply another coat of lippy and blot the excess.
And you’re good to go! I would give it a few minutes to properly dry and set (now would be a good time to get dressed) before taking a sip of anything. Once everything’s settled, you’re good for the night.
