Burberry Birthday Adventure

Burberry Flagship Store Visit | Stile.Foto.Cibo

May might be one of my favorite months of the year. It starts to get warm for real, flowers are everywhere, and my birthday happens! This year, I’m actually celebrating, whereas last year I didn’t do terribly much. So the celebrations began last week with a trip to the Burberry flagship store here in Chicago for a birthday present that I’ve been eyeing for a while: MyBurberry eau de toilette.

The scent is amazing! And the experience was great. We were helped immediately upon entering the store and had just wonderful service. They helped me pick out my scent and then did complimentary makeup service! I’m now obsessed with their concealer and everything.

After we picked the scent and did the makeup, we got to walk around the store while they engraved my bottle with my initials. I found so many pieces that I fell in love with immediately including a gorgeous mulberry microbag and more.

Overall, the experience was amazing and I had so much fun! Enjoy the scroll!

Spring Style: Off the Shoulder

Spring Style, Forever 21 Off the Shoulder Top | Stile.Foto.Cibo

It’s no secret by this point that off-the-shoulder tops are super in for spring. I would even go so far as to predict that they’re going to carry over into summer very nicely. This particular top is such a style steal. Gorgeous, flowy, a stunning color, and everything else you could want in the perfect off-the-shoulder look for this season.

I’ve linked this as well as several similar tops (also style steals) below the photos.

Spring Style: Bow Heels

Spring Style: Bow Heels from SheInside.com | Stile.Foto.Cibo

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I define my style as. While I still have a hard time articulating that, I’ll tell you what I have learned: the thing I am most proud of is my shoe collection. It is small but mighty, filled with shoes that make people go “whoa, nice shoes!” or “so what’s the story with your shoes?” I love it when people talk to me about my shoes so I make sure they have something to talk about.

These bow heels are DEFINITELY a conversation starter. They’re sassy, a little bit obnoxious, and (my favorite part) surprisingly inexpensive. Alas, they’re not the most comfortable of beasts but when you find a fabulous pair of shoes, you can look past the pain a little bit, right?

Paired with some classic neutrals, these shoes are really allowed to pop and make the statement they were always meant to.

Brunch at DL Loft with Windy City Blogger Collective

Brunch at DL Loft with Windy City Blogger Collective | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Last weekend I got to attend a brunch with my favorite blogging group, the Windy City Blogger Collective. It’s a group of bloggers from around Chicago getting together to make our blogs bigger and better. You may remember them from the Blog Your Best 2016 conference I attended earlier this year. Basically, they’re amazing.

The venue for our brunch was this amazing loft, DL Loft, which is an event space you can rent out for just about anything from photo shoots to dinners and more! The space is simply stunning! And can totally be booked overnight. I’m not saying I want to spend my wedding night here, but I wouldn’t mind waking up on my first morning of being married in this simply stunning venue.

It’s a two floor loft in the heart of Lakeview. Exposed brick everywhere, a gigantic wall of windows creating the most gorgeous lighting ever, beautifully styled furniture and decor, a back garden that’s every blogger’s dream, and a fully loaded chef’s kitchen make this space everything I’ve ever needed.

We had donuts from Doodles Donuts that we got to decorate ourselves with brightly colored icing. Mine didn’t turn out that great since it took me a little while to get the hang of the icing but we got there. And they were GOOD! Mine was filled with an amazing chocolate cream that oozed everywhere and made a giant delicious mess.

A mimosa bar by Tastings.com, braids by Stylisted, and an amazing host in Debbie and this space was absolute perfection. I want to move in! Or at least host a bunch of events. I can almost guarantee that this space will show up again on the blog (did I hear someone in the back say Blogiversary Party?!). Enjoy the photos!

What’s In My Bag, Spring 2016

YesStyle.com Quilted Bag | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Spring has sprung, the sun is shining, flowers are blooming, and I’ve made the switch to this amazing quilted bag from YesStyle.com that totally looks like a Chanel bag but came at 1/100th of the price! So I figured it was high time to do a “What’s in my bag” post for you guys to get a peek into what this blogger carries around on the everyday.

Kate Spade Wallet | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Kate Spade Wallet

I’m obsessed with this wallet. Sarah gave it as a Christmas gift, saying it was time for me to upgrade from the Vera Bradley number that held everything including my cell phone since freshman year of college. So maybe it was a bit tattered and falling apart. But it still worked!

Point being, this guy is amazing. Gorgeous, simple, Kate Spade, and everything I could need in a wallet. There’s even a double zip pocket so I can keep change in one side and business cards in the other. What’s not to love?!

Business Cards | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Business Cards

And speaking of business cards, I carry these everywhere. I have a small stash in every single bag and wallet I carry so that I’m never without them. Obviously my blog business cards go everywhere with me. But so do the ones for the photo business Sarah and I just launched. That way, no matter the occasion, I’m locked and loaded to network my butt off!

Firmoo Sunglasses | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Firmoo Prescription Sunglasses

I’ve discovered the miracle that is prescription sunglasses and I’m never going back! Sunglasses aren’t a thing I have been using simply because my vision is so awful that my options were seeing or sunglasses. And then I discovered Firmoo and it’s wonderful. I can see and block the sun at the same time. Which sounds like such a basic concept but seriously, it’s been revolutionary. So I always have these babies on me and have been wearing them at every possible opportunity. It’s been wonderful. And look at how adorable the case is?! I’m obsessed.

I know, that doesn’t seem like a lot in a bag. There’s other stuff but it’s basic stuff like chapstick and the card I buzz in to work with. But that stuff’s boring. So this is the fun stuff! And I was just dying for an excuse to share this amazing bag with you all.

Trunk Show at Sanem’s with T+J Designs

Sanem's in Oak Park | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Can we talk about how beautiful the weather was this weekend? Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved it. I think I spent more than 50% of my waking hours outside in the sunshine. And have the sunburns to prove it. It was the perfect opportunity to break out some shorts, roll down the windows, and head out to Sanem’s, a boutique in Oak Park. Owned by the lovely Sanem herself, she hosted a trunk show for one of my favorite Chicago brands, T+J Designs, along with Julie of A Better Day with Julie.

This boutique is so adorable and Sanem was such a wonderful host, greeting everyone and pulling things for us to all try on. The white lace romper she pulled for me was definitely not something I would have picked for myself but I LOVED it on. I’m seriously considering going back for it as an outfit for our rehearsal dinner this October.

As always, the pieces T+J Designs had on display were amazing. But I’m in love with everything they design so there was no surprise there. The new graphic Ts for this season are spectacular! I definitely have my eye on several of them.

I tried on a bunch of different pieces and, while I didn’t take them all home, I did get myself some new goodies that I can’t wait to share with you all. Details coming very soon!

Bloggers Who Brunch @ The Allis, Soho House

Bloggers Who Brunch

What happens when you get a group of amazing blogger babes together and you all go out? Brunch at one of Chicago’s most beautiful spots, that’s what.

The wonderful Dasha of Windy City Wardrobe got this great group together to share a meal, meet each other, and just commiserate over being a blogger in this city of ours over some amazing food. We met up at The Allis inside Soho House.

Left to right in the photo above we’ve got Sabrina of Styles by Sab, Lindsey of Butter & Type, Dasha of Windy City Wardrobe, me, and Jalpa of Samosa Pop. We also had Michaela of The Deep End Review, Dasha’s wonderful wife and our photographer for the day. It was so great to get together with other bloggers where we could really chat with each other about all things blogger and there was zero judgement over taking tons of photos (and standing on chairs to do so) and just being our blogger selves.

But let’s talk about The Allis for a second. Because oh my goodness.

This little photography haven is actually the lobby of Soho House and serves a very limited menu. Their brunch menu is less than 20 items and that includes pastries. But every single thing is so so good and $15 or less. So it’s perfect for those of us who have to brunch on a budget but still want to have a wonderful and delicious time. Between all of us, we sampled a hearty portion of the menu and I think it’s safe to say we all really enjoyed what we had to eat.

My favorite item was definitely The Allis Breakfast. It’s avocado, hard eggs, smoked salmon, tomatoes, and toast all for you to mix and match and mash and devour. I also highly recommend the grilled cheese (there’s goats cheese on this, people!) and their lattes which are as delicious as they are beautiful. I definitely plan on going back very soon as it was so good.

I mean… I DO have a birthday coming up next month… (THIS IS A GIANT HINT!)

Beyond their brunch, The Allis is known for their afternoon tea which is served every single day and ridiculously popular. Definitely book in advance for that. Their lunch menu, equally small, is rumored to be wonderful as well. I’m convinced this place can do no wrong.

Now on to the photos!

Nike Free 5.0 Women's Running Shoe | Stile.Foto.Cibo

With the onset of spring comes the onset of my favorite shoe season. Sandals come out. Strappy heels. Basically everything that is great about shoes can happen in spring. All that gorgeous shoe wearing means my feet sometimes need a break. And yeah, those sneakers from a few weeks ago are awesome but sometimes you need a real treatment for your feet. These Nikes are literally like walking on clouds. They’re so lightweight and it doesn’t feel like there’s anything on my feet. But the tread on these is amazing. So so squishy.

I’ve been a fan of athletic shoes with dresses as of late but haven’t had the right shoes to pair the two. Now, with the great neutrals in these shoes and a pop of color in whatever dress (or hat) I’m wearing, I can rock this awesome trend!

And, I mean, they’re pretty great for running, too. I’ve only taken them out a few times but they’re definitely going to be great for the races I’m doing this summer.

Way Up High with 360 Chicago

360 Chicago | Stile.Foto.Cibo

This past Tuesday, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a preview of 360 Chicago’s new Sunset Series (formerly the John Hancock Observatory). It was a wonderful evening filled with amazing people, stunning views, great drinks, and some TILT!-ilating excitement!

First we got to explore the new exhibition before going up to the observation area. This exhibit talks about Chicago’s amazingly rich history by focusing on all of its many wonderful neighborhoods. From Lakeview to Pilsen and everything in between, the exhibit paints a stunning picture of everything it means to be a Chicagoan.

Exciting drink specials to get you a little liquid courage before going on the Tilt experience. Munchies, beer, wine, GORGEOUS views of this amazing city, and so many great people! Photographers, bloggers, and a whole mix of other folks made this evening a grand one.

After some libations, we found a few friends! Rachel (Wayfaring Rachel), Amber (Style Plus Curves), and Toya (The Fat Girl of Fashion) are fellow bloggers and just the most amazing ladies! We shared a drink and a chat and then decided it was time to go try this Tilt thing.

So, Tilt is Chicago’s highest moving attraction. You step onto a platform and hold onto the bars and the whole little box tips forward laying you out to see the city below you. Unprecedented views of the Magnificent Mile and other unique Chicago sites await those who are brave enough to try. Sarah decided to photograph the experience for us (How sweet!) and sit back while we tilted.

And then we made our way back to the main part of the deck to continue our exploring.

They have these wonderful little touch screen televisions around the windows that let you zoom in and out on a snapshot of the view you’re currently looking at. You can tap different locations and learn more about each building or the companies that occupy the buildings. Rachel and I had a good time learning about the view over the Loop.

With a pause for a photo, of course!

The whole evening was just so much fun. Amazing people, drinks, views, and everything.

The Sunset Series will occur on three evenings out of the week this summer. Mondays are photo nights, Tuesdays will have a guide in the sky with you from Chicago Architecture Foundation to tell you about the buildings and design you’re looking at, and Thursdays you’ll toast the sunset while DJs provide their best mixes for you. Each event unique to 360 Chicago and amazing in their own rights.

And big news for residents of the 606! Admission to 360 Chicago is officially half price with your Chicago zipcode. That’s just $10 for adults for these amazing views. Make sure you visit soon!
