New Year’s Eve is my absolute favorite time to get glammed up for a night out. Even if it’s just going to a party at a friend’s place, I love an excuse to wear sequins and bright red lipstick.
This dress was actually a hand-me-down from a friend but I’m linking some of my favorite sequin stripes down below. Enjoy the scroll!
I have a rule of avoiding driving at all costs on NYE so I only go to places where I can walk or take public transit. This outfit is perfect for walking. Those are fleece lined leggings keeping me nice and toasty!
Check back on Thursday for my second NYE look!

I love a good found object, especially when it lends itself to a good outfit shoot.
I’d been planning some sort of sleek all-black “feel like a bad-ass” outfit for a while now. And then this sofa ended up in the alley behind our building. Hello, photo shoot.
So Sarah and I got all ready to go, ventured downstairs, and had a little fun. There was lots of “ooh, try this!” “now what about that?” “Car coming, don’t move a muscle.” It was a ton of fun and gave us a chance to really work with different poses and camera angles and the lot.

Sunday evenings are always a fun night to go out to eat for me. Not a lot of people are out, restaurants are usually slightly empty, and it’s a great way to regroup and relax before the start of a new week.
The tradition harkens back to my childhood a little. Every Sunday night, my grandparents, parents, and me would go out to dinner. We had a list of old favorites and occasionally went to try new places. It let us catch up with each other, stay involved in each other’s lives, and really bond. While it doesn’t happen every weekend anymore and it hasn’t been that group in years, I still get a glorious blast of nostalgia when I’m eating out on a Sunday night.
This top is one of my favorite finds of the summer. “Closets are for shoes, not lesbians.” It’s super duper soft, has a really unique open back, and offers a statement I stand very strongly by. I just love it! It’s by vfish designs, who I found at Andersonville’s Midsommar Fest in June.
Zoe particularly enjoys going out to eat with us and we’re always searching for places with dog friendly outdoor seating. The phone call “Can I bring my dog to your patio?” is a frequent one in our household.

I feel like from the moment you begin blogging, you’re almost required to own a pair of perfectly distressed denim. Whether boyfriend fit or skinny, a pair needs to find its way into your closet at some point. After blogging for 9+ months, I have finally found said perfect pair of jeans at Zara.
It was literally love at first sight. I turned around, saw them sitting there on the rack, and all but screamed with joy. First pair I grabbed was in my size and it was off to the fitting room for me. Absolutely perfectly fitting.
Come home, beautiful.
Absolutely wonderful! They’re comfy, they work with casual outfits but can just as easily be dressed up with a pair of heels and the right top. These have very quickly become the most versatile piece in my closet.
Now if only I could wear them to work.
Added bonus for the post, stacking rings!
I have this problem where my ring size is super small. Like, my engagement ring is a 4.5. I just have suuuper tiny fingers. So stacking and midi rings that should fit higher up on my fingers just don’t. But I’m okay with that. I like having the stacks where they are.
I know some of them look really tight in the photos. Let me tell you how toasty warm it was the day we shot these. My fingers were pretty gross all day.
Anyway, back to jeans.
I cannot contain my excitement with these. I’ve been wearing them literally every chance I get.
Going out for dinner? Jeans. Going shopping? Jeans. Dinner with friends? Jeans. I’m in love!
Lots to cover in a single post! Let’s get to it!
So slightly more than a week ago, I won an awesome Alex and Ani giveaway by the blogger Styled by Blondie. If you’re not following her, make sure to go check her out! It was for a $35 gift certificate which equated to one bangle with shipping and stuff. I ended up going with the Prints of Love Charm bangle. 20% of the sales of this particular bangle go to the ACPCA with a minimum donation of $20,000. So if you’re looking for a gift for the animal over (or mother) in your life, I highly recommend it!
The arrival of the bangle paired just perfectly with an event Sarah and I went to. One of the shelters near us, Felines and Canines, had their annual fundraiser event at this karaoke bar called Trader Todd’s. Walking in, I felt like I had stepped into a Jimmy Buffet song, to give you the overall vibe of the place. I’m not usually the one for these types of places but I actually really loved it!
There was trivia, a raffle, and everything went to benefit this super awesome no kill shelter. While it’s not where Zoe came from, the shelter still holds a special place in our hearts. And Zoe is friends with lots of F&C pups!
So of course we used it as a chance to get dressed up!
And sit around the campfire drinking our margaritas.
Hair shot. Dutch braid. (did I mention I dyed my hair? Because that happened, too)
Raffle even worked out in our favor! Sarah won a gorgeous necklace and I won a mani/pedi from a local salon. Details on that soon!
Overall, it was an awesome day to benefit such a great shelter. And sport my Anex and Ani bangle at the same time. All in the name of dogs!
