Relaxing Bath

The recipe for a perfect bubble bath | Stile.Foto.Cibo

Taking time for me is something I am horrid at. When I am constantly saying “yes” to new projects while working all the time and trying to build in time for friendship and family, the first thing I shuffle to the side is myself. Which results in every sort of stress related symptom on the planet attacking me from the inside out and the outside in.

With the end of a particularly stressful contract and the beginning of some newfound free time (Seriously, I just discovered 15 free hours in my week), I’m working on honing my relaxation skills and making taking care of myself a priority.

Cue relaxing bath time. I’ve had a recipe for relaxation here for a while but with the discovery of new products and a better understanding of what relaxes me, I can now officially share my recipe for the perfect bath.

Ingredient 1: Bubbles. I’ve raved about these bubblers by Cream City Soap Company on here before, way back when. They’re super concentrated and only need a tablespoon or two for a full blanket of bubbles. The lavender scent is real lavender, not the fake stuff you find in many lavender scented products, and it fills not only my bathroom but my entire apartment with the wonderful scent. I usually add these as my bath is 1/2-3/4 full.

Ingredient 2: Bath Salts. I met the maker of Real. Soaps at Edgefest earlier this summer. He’s awesome and his bath salts are my favorite! The bath salts is the best for creating a relaxing tub of water and contains such amazing ingredients as himalayan salt, dead sea salt, lavender, eucalyptus, and more. I like to add 3 tablespoons or so to the tub just after I’ve begun to fill it.

Ingredient 3: Fresh Face Masks. Lush makes the best products, though this is no secret, really. This mask is one of my favorites and I use it weekly. The fresh blueberries are the best! It’s cleansing and soothing and full of vitamins and I just feel so fresh afterwards.

Ingredient 4: Wine. This one goes without saying. One glass of a good wine really makes a bath for me. Something to sip on while I slip into a bubble aromatic bliss is jsut the best.

Match with good book, some relaxing music, and candles and I’m good to go.

The Best Bubble Bath Ever

_MG_6642On the list of ways I can actually relax, baths take a spot near the very top. There’s something wonderful about submerging into hit water and just completely unwinding. Or reading a book. Or having a glass of wine. As long as there is hot water, I don’t really care what else is involved. Finding a bubble bath I like has been a challenge, however. It needs to be the perfect scent, make great bubbles, and leave me feeling actually relaxed.

Cue Cream City Soap Company. I stumbled upon these guys at the Bristol Renaissance Faire where they had a huge table of soaps as well as some delicious smelling bath products including a wonderful lavender scented bubbler that looked promising. Curiosity piqued, I decided to take a tub home to try.

Holy bubble bath, batman! This stuff is amazing. The smell is absolutely perfect. Not overpowering at all and it makes the entire apartment smell like lavender. Add in a hot cup of aromatic coffee and you have aromatherapy to last several hours.

The bath itself was just as glorious. Mounds of bubbles everywhere. I like to pair with candles, relaxing, and a good book for maximum relaxation.
