I love a good found object, especially when it lends itself to a good outfit shoot.
I’d been planning some sort of sleek all-black “feel like a bad-ass” outfit for a while now. And then this sofa ended up in the alley behind our building. Hello, photo shoot.
So Sarah and I got all ready to go, ventured downstairs, and had a little fun. There was lots of “ooh, try this!” “now what about that?” “Car coming, don’t move a muscle.” It was a ton of fun and gave us a chance to really work with different poses and camera angles and the lot.

Sunday evenings are always a fun night to go out to eat for me. Not a lot of people are out, restaurants are usually slightly empty, and it’s a great way to regroup and relax before the start of a new week.
The tradition harkens back to my childhood a little. Every Sunday night, my grandparents, parents, and me would go out to dinner. We had a list of old favorites and occasionally went to try new places. It let us catch up with each other, stay involved in each other’s lives, and really bond. While it doesn’t happen every weekend anymore and it hasn’t been that group in years, I still get a glorious blast of nostalgia when I’m eating out on a Sunday night.
This top is one of my favorite finds of the summer. “Closets are for shoes, not lesbians.” It’s super duper soft, has a really unique open back, and offers a statement I stand very strongly by. I just love it! It’s by vfish designs, who I found at Andersonville’s Midsommar Fest in June.
Zoe particularly enjoys going out to eat with us and we’re always searching for places with dog friendly outdoor seating. The phone call “Can I bring my dog to your patio?” is a frequent one in our household.

You read about the launch party for Be Buddha Jewelry on Monday. Here’s the details from my outfit for the day.
This amazing two-piece set is a Forever 21 find. I was super surprised to find it but seriously pleased! This is the first and only crop top I’ve ever owned/tried and I’m actually really shocked at how much I love it. I would totally pair it with some other pieces in my wardrobe (read: my high-waisted black shorts!) throughout the rest of summer. It’s amazing!
The shoes are the ones I wore to Simply Stylist, as featured in this post but I didn’t really elaborate on them. These are from Topshop and were not the shoes I went out looking for. I was looking for these lace up flats, actually. But then I saw these and knew that they were the ones. I love them dearly and have been wearing them every day.
My hair was done by my amazing fiancee, Sarah. She loves playing with hair and braiding and this was a great opportunity to try something new. It’s two dutch braids twirled together into an off-center bun at the back. Kept my hair out of my face on a particularly hot day (not friendly for curls) and left my ears open to show off the amazing Be Buddha earrings I got.

Let me tell you about my new favorite jewelry company: Be Buddha Jewelry! Their manifesto is “outer piece for inner peace” and the jewelry reflects this! The different stones and symbols used in the jewelry all reflect different human facets including creativity, calmness, etc. The colors in these hand made pieces are absolutely stunning and range from basic golds to vibrant teals and pinks- and everything in between!
I was lucky enough to be invited to the website launch party by Erin, founder and owner, herself. We met at a runway event a little while back and got to talking about the jewelry she was wearing there. Come to find out she had made it was was working on launching her website! Color me excited. So when she invited me to the launch party, I of course said yes!
The event was held at Gino’s East on the third floor in their Comedy Bar. Drinks, a henna artist, DJ, live music, snacks, and, of course, the jewelry. This was my first time getting to really see all of Erin’s work up close. It’s fantastic! Some of the pieces photographed here are my favorites, particularly the necklace below. I’m in love with this spiky trend in jewelry right now so, naturally, I’m fawning all over anything with spiky beads.
All of the pieces were amazing but I ended up picking only one pair of earrings, pictured. I absolutely love them! They’re a great statement without being too much and without being heavy, even though they look it.
The whole party was great time and it was so nice to celebrate this super exciting time for Erin. Make sure to check out Be Buddha Jewelry!
Check back Wednesday for my outfit details from the day.
