It’s no secret by this point that off-the-shoulder tops are super in for spring. I would even go so far as to predict that they’re going to carry over into summer very nicely. This particular top is such a style steal. Gorgeous, flowy, a stunning color, and everything else you could want in the perfect off-the-shoulder look for this season.
I’ve linked this as well as several similar tops (also style steals) below the photos.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I define my style as. While I still have a hard time articulating that, I’ll tell you what I have learned: the thing I am most proud of is my shoe collection. It is small but mighty, filled with shoes that make people go “whoa, nice shoes!” or “so what’s the story with your shoes?” I love it when people talk to me about my shoes so I make sure they have something to talk about.
These bow heels are DEFINITELY a conversation starter. They’re sassy, a little bit obnoxious, and (my favorite part) surprisingly inexpensive. Alas, they’re not the most comfortable of beasts but when you find a fabulous pair of shoes, you can look past the pain a little bit, right?
Paired with some classic neutrals, these shoes are really allowed to pop and make the statement they were always meant to.

With the onset of spring comes the onset of my favorite shoe season. Sandals come out. Strappy heels. Basically everything that is great about shoes can happen in spring. All that gorgeous shoe wearing means my feet sometimes need a break. And yeah, those sneakers from a few weeks ago are awesome but sometimes you need a real treatment for your feet. These Nikes are literally like walking on clouds. They’re so lightweight and it doesn’t feel like there’s anything on my feet. But the tread on these is amazing. So so squishy.
I’ve been a fan of athletic shoes with dresses as of late but haven’t had the right shoes to pair the two. Now, with the great neutrals in these shoes and a pop of color in whatever dress (or hat) I’m wearing, I can rock this awesome trend!
And, I mean, they’re pretty great for running, too. I’ve only taken them out a few times but they’re definitely going to be great for the races I’m doing this summer.

Despite my intense love for everything that is heels, there’s something amazing about slipping on some sneakers and going out for a day of… well, whatever really. These are such a great pick for spring with their bright minty green and they’re so comfy! I may tend to choose heels over sneakers but when my choice is these, I’m still walking happy.

I’ve been all about carrying a giant bag lately. Despite sizing down to something small for fall and winter, I missed being able to carry more stuff with me. The last few months, I’ve been carrying books to and from work in a reusable grocery bag. Less than glam, I know. But now that it’s beach bag season again, I found this great tote to carry my ever growing to-be-read pile.
On a different note, if you’re looking for something fun to do this week around Chicago, you should check out the Refuge Theatre Project’s Audition Diaries Cabaret! Showing March 17th at 8pm at @North Bar, 1637 W North Ave. The theme for this performance is “Shit Divas Sing” and they have an amazing lineup to carry you all the way through summer. Get the full scoop, including ticket prices, location, and the rest of the increasingly hilarious themes by checking out the event here. It’s sure to be a riotously good time!

I love finding hidden gems in the city.
This might be my favorite one yet. In the SunTimes building downtown, above all the offices, there is a Holiday Inn. Its lobby is at the 15th floor, let alone the rooms, so you can only imagine the amazing views this place offers. The bar is even called CityScape and it’s beautiful! I think it’s safe to say I’m thrilled to have found this place.

Chicago had a blizzard yesterday. It was cold, there was snow and ice and sleet and the whole shebang. And wind. We had so much wind that despite having a blizzard, there is no snow on the ground. I swear, I was convinced that wind was going to blow me over.
Can we have spring now? I want light coats and florals and sunshine and warm weather. We’ve had some teasing days but it’s not enough. I’m ready for it to be consistently above 50. In the meantime, I’ll dream back to this fun look, another from my NYFW dressing up, and hope for sunny days.

Does anyone else have that deep connection with their living space that if it is cluttered, their mind is cluttered? I definitely do. My rule within our home is that I like to keep it “10 minutes from guest ready” which I definitely borrowed from Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere. Because if my space is cluttered more than, say, a load of laundry waiting to be put away or some dog toys on the rug, my focus completely disappears.
This weekend, we spent probably more time than necessary scrubbing everything. Cleaning up the clutter and scouring what’s underneath. And let me tell you, it felt so good. Waking up Monday morning to feeling mentally clean as well as having a clean space is probably the best way to Monday.
Is this shot making anyone else giggle as much as me?

Wardrobe shopping lately has had one rule: It needs to double up for work wear as well as casual wear. This dress is the absolute best! It’s so great for a day of shopping but totally works going into the library, too. I love a multi-use piece. And this one has been getting a ton of compliments. Found it at Marshall’s way back in September and it’s become a staple in my wardrobe.
It’s super well tailored, has some amazing detail with the buttons, and (most importantly of all) has functioning pockets!

Back at the beginning of the year, I mentioned my goal for the year was to get my mental health in order. For the month of January, I made myself get into the habit of making my bed every single day. That’s just ingrained in my morning routine now. So February is for a new goal: get moving every single day. Living on the 5th floor, I have it relatively easy. Beyond being able to take the stairs, Zoe and I have been going on really long beach walks the last few days (follow along on snapchat! Username dannie54) and I’m aiming to get back into yoga again. Fingers crossed!
Any other suggestions to work getting moving again into my daily routine? I’d love to hear them!
