Treat Yourself with PrettyQuick

PrettyQuick Beauty App | Stile.Foto.Cibo

This past week, I gave myself a little “Treat Yourself” kind of day where I focused entirely on self care and things I enjoy that make me happy. Among that included a manicure and letting someone else do my blowout for a change. And I booked them both through my new favorite app, PrettyQuick.

Here’s how it works: Download the app. Make an account. Find a salon. Book your appointment. Go to appointment. Pay through the app.

My first appointment was the mani at Fuga Italian Escape. I’m trying to curb my nail biting and a mani seemed like the way to do that. I booked my appointment the night before and had everything confirmed before I went to bed. Next day I got there and was greeted with tea before going to actually get my mani. The service was amazing and I definitely never would have found this salon if it hadn’t been for PrettyQuick.

Next up was my blowout. Admittedly, I had a harder time booking this one. The¬†cashless payment system was down at the first salon I tried to book and the second one didn’t have any appointments when I was available. But PrettyQuick made it really easy to find a new salon and finally make an appointment at Chroma Salon and Spa in Lincolnwood. Once again, amazing service (this time with coffee) and I left with a great blowout that I didn’t have to do myself!

Basically, this app is my new favorite, maybe even above Instagram. They make beauty easy.

Want to give it a try for yourself? Unfortunately, the app is only for iOS devices. But for those of us who are Apple addicted, go download the app and use code “dannie” to get $15 in beauty services. That’s a free mani!

Full disclosure, I get $5 in credit when you redeem your credit.
This post was not sponsored by PrettyQuick. I’m just in love with the app.¬†

Zoe wanted to join the party for this shoot. So enjoy the puppy shots as well as this amazing blowout and mani!

Holiday Nails!

Inspired by Ladies and Lace’s Festive Nails post, here’s my holiday nails!

They definitely did not turn out as nice as I wanted but I will get into the details of that a little later on.

I used a shimmery red polish and a shimmery silver for this. Additional hardware includes top coat and masking tape.

Start with your base coat and two coats of the red. Make sure this dries thoroughly. You could even let it go overnight if you really wanted, just to make sure it’s really completely dry.

Next, I used masking tape to mark where I wanted the line of the silver to go. This was where part of my mistake was. Rip the tape in half length-wise so you can use both flat edges and have much less tape to manage around your fingers. The full width made it extremely cumbersome and hard to work with. It also did not stick to my nails as thoroughly as I wanted it to- presumably because it was so big.

Add two coats of your color block. Again, I used a shimmery silver.

Wait for the silver to dry COMPLETELY before removing the tape. This was my other big mistake. I got really impatient and tried to take the tape off and it just smeared everything. Of the 4 nails I did this to, I only had one really clean line.

Once the silver is completely dry and you have removed the tape, add your topcoat and you’re good to go. Holiday nails!

Yep, that's an engagement ring. Saving that bit for a future post!
